Parish Leadership

CrossIcon114Newman has adopted the La Crosse Diocesan structure so that the Parish Pastoral Council now has four committees that are charged with both developing programs for the parish and with their implementation. The committees meet separately from the whole Council and are composed of more parishioners than just those on the Pastoral Council. This creates an opportunity for more people to be involved (including college students) and to be involved in an area of the parish’s life where that person has a particular interest.

Family Life Committee: Contact: Susan Tomasi-
This committee is charged with fostering family life and marriage, the social life of the parish and hospitality, care for the sick and homebound, youth ministry, vocations to priesthood and consecrated life, pre-marriage preparation and marriage enrichment and anything else which is part of fostering Christian family life. This committee typically is the largest of committees in any parish.

Sacred Worship Committee: Contact: Gary Kucko-
Typically not a very large committee this committee works with the Pastor to enhance the liturgical life of the parish. The committee is concerned with decoration and set up for the various seasons in the church year, with music and rituals, and with overall how the experience of worship is within the parish. The committee is also charged with promoting the devotional life of prayer among members of the parish.

Education Committee: Contact: Kathie Schneider-
Helps the Pastor, Campus Minister, and Parish Council to foster the educational aspects of the parish. Adult education, RCIA, mission activities, catechesis and ecumenism would all fall under the oversight of this committee.

Social Justice Committee: Contact: Ken Ripp-
The Newman Parish already has a strong awareness of the issues of social justice but this committee is charged with continuing that social awareness and fostering structures in the parish to promote it. Areas of concern for this committee include, respect for human life, care of the needy and imprisoned, pastoral care of migrants and refugees, just structures within the parish, parish giving and stewardship, and fostering greater understanding of Church teaching on social justice.
