OCIA
Jesus Christ established the Catholic Church so that we may have fullness of life through participation in the Sacraments. Through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) adults enter fully into the Body of Christ, the Church. This is a beautiful gift that Christ desires to share with every person!
There are two paths that lead to full initiation into the Catholic Church. The first is called the Catechumenate, which is for those who have never received the Sacrament of Baptism. This would include those who come from a non-Christian faith background or no faith background. The second path is for Candidates, who have been Baptized in a Catholic or non-Catholic Christian tradition but have not received Eucharist and/or Confirmation.
The process for both Catechumens and Candidates includes a class on Monday's from 7-8:30 pm at the ERC that runs from late September to the Easter season and culminates in the celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation at Easter (Baptism and/or First Communion and/or Confirmation).
